Located right beneath The Roaches and Ramshaw Rocks in the tiny hamlet of Upper Hulme, Mill Cottage is a fantastic home-from-home for climbers and walkers. The Area

Upper Hulme is a tiny, but busy, hamlet between Leek and Buxton. There are several farms in the village, and the old mill and dye works buildings are home to some thriving businesses. Read more about Upper Hulme here.

As the name suggests, the cottage was once part of the mill which was until the early 1970s a silk dyeing works. Now, our immediate neighbours manufacture equipment for other mills and dye processors in the old mill buildings.

There's a rich industrial heritage on our doorstep: just a short walk up the farm track opposite the ford you will find the recently restored Dains Mill which may date back to the 1500s, and the Churnet Valley (best explored on the Churnet Valley Railway) is packed with flint mills, copper works and old mine workings.

Walkers and climbers will love the Roaches & Hen Cloud, which are a 10 minute amble away. The views across the Peak District and west across Cheshire and to the Welsh border are simply stunning, and the climbing is world class.

"The Rock" pub is only a couple of minutes' walk up the hill from Mill Cottage, where you'll find a huge menu and a great bar.
